  3. About the Program
  4. -----------------

  6. This program is built up from v1.0c of the Numberizer, which was found to
  7. have worked successfully. It is different from 1.0c in that it is designed
  8. to work as part of a network event. 
  9.  
  10. What it does is renumber your message base, starting from whatever number
  11. you select. Since it will do this every night, your message base will
  12. always be sequencial.
  13.  
  14. This program is most useful if you back up your message base every day, causing
  15. messages to be deleted.

  35. This program will update the following files:
  36.  
  37.      MSGHDR      - The messages themselves
  38.      MESSAGES    - The high and low message markers
  39.      USERLOG     - Highest number read by each user
  40.      News HiMark - Changed to match it's new counterpart.
  41.      Seenby.bbs  - Clears it except for the last record, which is changed.

  43. This should be all that is needed. This program is free. If you get some
  44. use out of it, please send me a message letting me know. The reason this
  45. program is free is because...well, it's very short and only took a little
  46. over an hour to write.

  48. Configuring the Numberizer
  49. --------------------------
  50.  
  51. All of the data that the Numberizer needs is stored in a text file 
  52. entitled 'Numberizer.Config'. This file should be in the same folder as
  53. the application. Here is what each line means:
  54.  
  55. Line 1 - Table file path:name. This file is the location where you want 
  56.          the table to be stored. Just put the path to your host folder...
  57.          the program will automatically delete it when it is done.
  58.  
  59. Line 2 - Path:Name to MSGHDR file. 
  60. Line 3 - Path:Name to MESSAGES file.
  61. Line 4 - Path:Name to USERLOG file.
  62. Line 5 - Path:Name to News HiMark  file.
  63. Line 6 - Path:Name to Seenby.bbs file.
  64. Line 7 - Path to Red Ryder Host. Should end it a colon.
  65. Line 8 - Starting number for your message base.

  67. Thus, you would have a total of 8 lines of text, none of which should be
  68. empty.

  70. Running the Numberizer
  71. ----------------------

  73. Place the Numberizer and the Numberizer Config file in your RRH folder. 
  74. Then, adjust your NetMail event so that the Numberizer is after TabbyNet,
  75. but before Tabby Delivermail (or Hiss).

  77. It should look like this:

  79. TabbyNet SendNews,TabbyNet SendMail,TabbyNet,Numberizer,Hiss,TabbyNet 
  80. SendNews,(program to backup messages),Red Ryder Host
  81.  
  82. Numberizer must be run BEFORE the TabbyNet Delivermail/Hiss program is
  83. run in order to keep the seenby file correct.
